Slaw Dawgs Diner in Astoria

Nice small town diner with lots of charm and hospitality. Home cooked standards like burgers and hot dogs. Very friendly staff. Restaurant could use better venting over the kitchen area. Unfortunately I just learned that they have permanently closed. The restaurant business is a difficult one and being located in a small town off the main drag and not visible to highway traffic would increase the difficulty of maintaining business. Sad to see it go.

The food is good, so is the people.

The 50's/60's theme of the place is really cool and it's interesting to look around. However I don't like that the kitchen is open up to the dining area. The smell of grease is overwhelming. Otherwise, the food is okay, just typical tasting fast food.
